The famous monuments in Istanbul

This church from the Byzantine era is small in size but impressive for its rich interior, especially for its mosaics . It was converted into a mosque by the Ottomans in 1511 and is now a museum. We absolutely recommend the visit , each tile has its own little story .

Topkapi Palace
Located in the Sultanahmet district the Topkapı Palace was the official residence of the sultans for four centuries from the capture of Constantinople by the Ottomans . It is built on the tip of the seraglio, a strategic location for the entrance to the Bosphorus Strait. It stretches over 70 hectares and at the time was like a city within the city. He had four courtyards, gardens, kiosks and fountains. More than 4,000 people could live, a thousand women in theharem . Today the traditional visit you can admire the gorgeous rooms of the palace, and collections of works and objects as weapons, jewelry and clothes of the Ottoman court through the ages.

Dolmabahce Palace
The magnificent Dolmabahce Palace was the residence of the Sultans and the main administrative center of the Ottoman Empire from 1853 to 1922. Palace is " Versailles  "version Ottoman, very luxurious, the exterior is white marble and the interior decked with gold. It houses a rich collection of art and exceptional pieces such as the chandeliers of Baccarat . This is one of the monuments of the most beautiful ' Istanbul , Ataturk even made ​​his presintial residence during the last years of his life.

The Basilica Cistern (Yerebatan Sarnici)
The Basilica Cistern was the largest underground cistern , it was used to supply water to the city of Constantinople.The Byzantines had in effect built large cisterns to store water so as not to be in short supply during the summer. The tank is a large underground room with columns of 8 m high and water basins. The lighting columns combined with classical music playing in the background that there prevails a mystical atmosphere.
Price is 10TL, open all week from 9 am to 17:30.

Aya Sofia (Holy sophie) / Blue Mosque
Sainte Sophie and Blue Mosque facing the large forecourt of Sultanahmet . Two different eras, two  different religions.

Hagia Sophia
The Blue Mosque (Sultanahmet Camii):

Suleymaniye Mosque and its surroundings
Suleymaniye Mosque is a beautiful mosque built by Sinan , the great Ottoman architect of Suleiman the Magnificent . It was built between 1550 and 1557 Details of the mosque are fascinating and all have their own little stories, such as the four minarets and 10 balconies indicating that Suleiman the Magnificent was the fourth Sultan of Istanbul and the 10th of Ottoman dynasty. In the vicinity of the mosque you will find a real city with schools, a library, steam room and restaurants.
