Taxis in Istanbul

There are about 18,000 taxis ("  Taksi  ") in Istanbul , they are easily discernible by their yellow color. Taxis are available throughout the city at any hour of the day or night. use taxis in Istanbul 's Sultanahmet for something mundane as its use is common. As in all cities of the world have bad reputations taxis, especially those in the very tourist areas such as the old town , airports and Taksim Square .

In Istanbul taxis all have a taxi meter, the meter starts 2,7TL (1.17 €) and increases 1,7TLpar km.

Although we believe that the majority of taxis are pretty honest and serious there are unfortunately (especially inplaces) that are downright dishonest.

Here is a list of tips to avoid the most common pitfalls  :

- Avoid paying with large bills, one of the most common scams is done during checkout. You give 50TL for a race 15TL, and the taxi will tell you that you had given him 5TL. We suggest you bring small bills.

-       Taxis in Istanbul all have taxi meters , if the cab tells you the fare without putting the meter, we recommend that you go out and get another one.

- There may be a race when you pay the taxi driver tells you he has no money. It is not customary to Istanbul to give a tip to the taxi unless it helped you with your luggage, or was particularly enjoyable. If you insist on your money it willmake it faster in a small business.
